Boone has been my home for the past 17 years and I was hired on September 11, 2001. During my time here I have come to value the diversity of Boone, as it is one of the most precious pieces of the school. The diversity brings a myriad of perspectives, beliefs and values from which even I learn daily. It also helps shape our students to future leaders in fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness.
University of Wisconsin – La Crosse is my alma mater where I earned two bachelor degrees in physical education and psychology. I have also managed to get two masters in Educational Leadership and in Curriculum & Instruction. My background has shaped my wellness philosophy, which colors how I teach physical education and health. My goal for all students is to become daily practitioners and leaders in wellness in order to help combat our national epidemic of childhood obesity and sedentariness. I wish all student lifelong good health where they apply the knowledge I shared through daily healthy choices.
I live as I teach by making daily healthy choices. Some physical activities I do frequently includes running, strength training, and paddle boarding. When I do not exercise, I enjoy time in the kitchen cooking for friends and family. One of my favorite dishes to cook is Malaysian laksa, which is a spicy noodle dish. I also enjoy watching movies, and one of my favorites is Ratatouille. My favorite sports team is the Patriots, who I have been cheering on since 1991. Lastly, my favorite color is green.

I came to Boone in fall of 2013 as a student teacher. Once I completed my student teaching, I was hired as a recess supervisor for three months. I was then hired by Playworks to be the program coordinator at Boone from April of 2014 until June of 2015. I officially became a Physical Education teacher in the fall of 2015. My first year was great, and I am happy and excited to start my second year! I love Boone and I am proud to say that I work here. I am fortunate to work with such an amazing administration and staff. Ultimately, the students are the main reason I am able to wake up every morning and say, “ I love what I do.”
I wanted a career that involved working with children, so I decided to study education at Northeastern Illinois University. I attended NEIU from Fall 2009 until December 2013. I graduated with a bachelor degree in physical education with a health minor. I teach physical education and health because I want to positively impact the students mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally. I want to pass on my knowledge to my students in an informative, fun, and enjoyable way so they can be lifelong movers and live out a healthy way of life.
On my spare time, I love to play basketball, ride my bicycle, and take my dogs for a walk. A couple of hobbies of mine are going to the movies and experiencing new fine dining. Since I am huge basketball fan, my favorite team is the Chicago Bulls. I have been a fan of them since Michael Jordan and the Bulls won their third ring back in 1993. My favorite color is blue and not because it’s a Boone color, but because of the variety of shades of blues.
